You know the food is OG when all the visitors are Korean Korean core no tourist Always tastes fresh with plenty of side dishes and course menus!
tldr; amazing food and portions, great service, cozy vibes I was really craving halibut sashimi and wanted to find a place that would serve it Korean style. I think in OC/LA, this is the only place I was able to find. Before I visited, I was a little nervous because the price seemed steep at about $70 per person for a 2-person set. After visiting, I can confirm that I think it is totally worth it - and you can probably feed 3 people with the 2 person combo. We went on a weekday and there was only 1 other party seated at the time we arrived. I recall only about 8 tables? So may get busy for dinner/weekends! Free and large parking lot in the complex. The course was halibut sashimi 광어회 and other cuts of raw seafood. We also were served tons of other sides like salad, soup, porridge, salmon nigiri, and spicy seafood soup 해물탕. It was soooooo good and the seafood was really fresh. They also had live octopus (산낙지), which was also so fresh and delicious. It's not common for restaurants in the States to do this, so I had to get a bite of that as well! I think even if we're not there for the whole set meal, I will be back here to try some of their other dishes. A lot of people that were there when we were there got the raw fish bibimbap, which seemed like a really fair amount for the price.
I've eaten here regularly for the past decade and I get the hwae deop bap every time I'm here.
Special place where my dad and I always go whenever we run errands together in LA. There is a place called Jang Soo Sushi Bar Restaurant in Hawaiian Garden that my family is a regular, which I will review it soon. However, this restaurant is a replica of that place, which I love. Fresh sashimi, various side dishes and delicious extra sushi on the house, the price might be pricy but I don't mind paying for the quality. Their presentation is also superb. From the sushi men to the servers, they are flawless. Love the fact that they use the stainless steel cups and dishes because that means they sanitizes them. The restaurant might be small but the excellence of their customer service and professionalism on handling assorted fishes are great. Note that they close at 2pm and reopen at 4pm everyday except on Sundays. They open 3pm-9:30pm on Sundays.
First time here, and staff were welcoming and friendly. We were seated right away as it was right before the dinner rush started. They were offering a special of different sizes (small, med, large, x-large/special). They had Do-dah-ri sashimi, which isn't always available. Since we had a party of six, we ordered the x-large special, and wow, there was a lot of food! They were so generous, and even gave us a plate of salmon nigiri on the house. Every item tasted fresh and delicious! They made sure to keep all seafood on ice too, even when they switched out the plates to make more room on the table for new items. The Korea style sashimi hit the spot, and satisfied my craving! At the end, they offer a spicy seafood soup, which is also delicious. There was so much food that we had to take most of the soup home. Overall, very delicious, and I will definitely be stopping by again. Ambiance isn't anything spexial, more like a ma and pa shop, but didn't bother me, as the service and food were all great! Definitely not cheap, but more worth it than any other place, as the taste is great and portions are very generous.
Our family has been coming here for 10+ years so I will remain a faithful follower. Only recently have I brought a few friends here. It's been a tradition within family to come here for celebrations and then over the years several times a year. Without fail, we always do the sashimi course menu with the lobster and although it's been the four of us forever with now an addition to the family, it's enough food for 4 if you order for 3. I think compared to other places, it's a bit pricier, but for the quality, freshness, and quantity, you get more bang for your buck along with tons of quality side dishes. I've also had the mul-hwe (translates directly to water squid) which was pretty good and the live octopus! Love me some good live octopus with some sesame oil and cho-gochujang! Just a heads up parking is pretty tight during peak hours and they don't take reservations during the weekends. My friends and I waited over an hour place and ended up going to a Kim's run nearby in the meantime! Hehe.
Smaller sized restaurant with a good staff. At a glance you won't notice the restaurant but I highly suggest dropping by for fresh fish and side dishes. My party got both sashimi combo sets for about 8 people and along with drinks and side dishes. The entire dish was so well sliced and perfectly chewy. Along with dipping sauces the experience was memorable. Service was quick and thoughtful. It felt like I was over for dinner For a larger group, I'd recommend calling to let them know of party size for preparation
This is one of those spots in Koreatown that's small and doesn't look like much, but serves up incredible food. If you're looking for bomb sashimi, I really can't recommend this spot enough. My friend and I got their Combo Sashimi Course for two people, which comes out to $140. I thought that was really steep but there is a TON of food that comes out. Like the courses were never-ending, and we definitely could have had enough food for one additional person to join us. I'm sure I'm missing some plates that they brought out but the course menu included a porridge, salad, a mussel stew, small sides of crab meat and spicy rice cakes, fried tempura veggies, another small stew, a whole fried fish, and a giant bowl of spicy fish stew. And of course, all of this was in addition to two large platters of sashimi. I was so surprised at how much food was included in this, and it was actually such a deal. The sashimi was also SO much fresher than I was expecting.
